Tajikistan and Islamic Development Bank Leaders Renew Commitments to Advance Economic Ties

The President of the Islamic Development Bank, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, held discussions with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, aimed at advancing existing ties and reinforcing economic collaboration.

The meeting took place ahead of the OIC extraordinary Islamic summit on November 11 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

President Emomali Rahmon expressed his satisfaction with the beneficial partnership, commending the Islamic Development Bank for its valuable contributions to socio-economic development projects in Tajikistan and its consistent support in addressing global challenges.

Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser conveyed his gratitude for Tajikistan’s support and the adoption of a new project management framework for enhanced implementation.

He underscored IsDB’s commitment to cooperating on the development of the landmark Rogun Dam project as well as supporting the country’s national development plan for the well-being of the population.

The relationship between IsDB and Tajikistan encompasses total approvals of US$726.4 million, spanning critical sectors such as Education, Energy, and Transportation.

The final stages of approval for the Country Engagement Framework (CEF) are in progress, with an indicative financing envelope of US$235 million.

IsDB has played a crucial role in supporting Tajikistan’s development of the Islamic financial services industry.
