Tajikistan and China discussed investment and increase in cargo transportation

Tajikistan and China discussed the issues of attracting investment from China and increasing the transportation of goods, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan reports .

The discussion took place on December 16 in Dushanbe as part of a meeting of the subcommittee on trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the Xinjiang Uygur region of China.

The meeting was led by Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavka Zavkizoda and Vice Chairman of the People’s Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China Sun Hongmei.

In particular, among the issues discussed were: the export of goods from Tajikistan to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, attracting Chinese investment to the country, expanding trade and economic cooperation, increasing the transportation of goods through the Dushanbe-Kulma checkpoint, attracting Chinese funding for the construction highway “Dushanbe – Kulma”.

The interlocutors also touched upon the creation of joint industrial enterprises, especially in the free economic zones of Tajikistan.

It was also noted that bilateral trade over the 11 months of this year increased by 42.3%, amounting to $1 billion 95 million.
