Pavlodar Alumina Worth $800 Million Will be Exported to Tajikistan

Since the beginning of the year, the trade turnover between the region and its southern neighbor has amounted to $16 million.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan met with Pavlodar business, inbusiness.kz reports .

According to Ambassador Khairullo Ibodzoda, on the eve of the visit of the President of Tajikistan to Kazakhstan, documents were signed for $1 billion 862 million.

“A separate agreement was signed with the Pavlodar region regarding the export of alumina from an aluminum plant for $800 million. In total, we signed documents for $2.6 billion. We are interested in importing 99% of wheat and flour from Kazakhstan,” the diplomat specified.

The Pavlodar plant produces 1.5 million alumina. For many years, the lion’s share of alumina was shipped to Russia.

According to information and.about. Director of the regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs Mubarak Zhakupov, the trade turnover of the Pavlodar region with Tajikistan in January-March 2023 amounted to $16 million, including exports – $15.6 million.

“The main exports are alumina, non-calcined petroleum coke, wheat, flour, barley, imports – $ 0.4 million (quick lime). The indicator of foreign trade turnover decreased by 3.9% compared to the same period in 2022 due to by reducing the export of food mixtures from fats and oils. The share of Tajikistan in the total trade volume of the Pavlodar region amounted to 1.4%,” Zhakupov commented.

The topic of bilateral cooperation was discussed in Astana. Last year, bilateral trade grew to $1.4 billion.
