Men began to smoke more in past 10 years in Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Minister of Health Bubuzhan Artykbayeva said.

According to her, the rates of smoking have decreased among women.

“There is an increase in tobacco use especially among teenagers. Everyone is switching to the electronic cigarettes, because they think that it is not harmful. They also lead to serious consequences,” she noted.

Artykbayeva added that electronic cigarettes affect the growth of non-communicable diseases.

“49% of deaths in Kyrgyzstan are due to non-communicable diseases. The main reason for the development of the disease is smoking,” she says.
